In memory of Alan Beebe
We were so very sorry to learn that Alan Beebe, a founding member and early Chair of Preston Park u3a, passed away this July. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Caroline Beebe, who is also a stalwart member and longstanding contributor to our u3a. You can read more about Alan's life and the many ways in which he developed and benefited our u3a over the last 18+ years here.
New! Heritage visit to V & A East Storehouse Friday 25th September
In place of the hoped for visit to the Bayeux Tapestry, we will visit the V&A East Storehouse near Stratford in east London on the edge of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. We will train up at about 9.30 am to London Bridge then bus to Storehouse - https://www.vam.ac.uk/east/storehouse/visit.
This new visit will cost £15.85 for rail travel only but bring your bus pass and a bank card as you may wish to use the tube on the way home. To reserve a place contact John Colman.
Preston Park u3a Open Day Saturday 26th September 2026
As part of national u3a week, Preston Park u3a will be holding another Open Day in Knoyle Hall, Knoyle Road, Brighton on Saturday 26th September, from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
Members and those interested in finding out more about us are invited to meet Interest Group Leaders and see demonstrations of some of over 60 interest and activity groups.
Do plan to drop in and find out all that Preston Park u3a offers and how you can make the most of your membership.

Library Connect 1-to-1 Sessions
A volunteer can teach you how to use:
- a computer
- a laptop
- a smartphone
- a tablet
- an eBook reader
- the internet
You can book a library connect session by speaking to a member of library staff, emailing libraries@brighton-hove.gov.uk or phoning 01273 290 800.
Cafe in the Park
Our Drop-in Coffee morning meets at the Rotunda Cafe in Preston Park every Friday from 10:30 to 12 noon. All members of Preston Park u3a are welcome to pop along to have a chat with this sociable group. The members lay their u3a membership card on the table so you can easily recognise them.

South East u3a Summer School 7th – 10th September
Booking is now open for a variety of Summer School courses at the University of Chichester. As usual, our very own Roger Luther will be running a maths course - Mathematics for Life.

u3a Festival 26 online Fringe events 25 June - 10 July
u3a members can take part in the fun of u3a Festival 26 from home with u3a Festival Fringe. This series of online events will take place in the lead up to, and following on from, the sold out Festival in York on 1-3 July. The programme includes a mixture of talks and interactive activities. Online learning events

u3a members can join a wide range of online talks, workshops and courses for free with their membership. They are hosted on Zoom. See what’s coming up and book at Learning in the u3a Movement. The online events are very popular, so it pays to book early.
